Scissett Club is around 100 years old with formal membership of the CIU dating from 1919. The land was purchased from the Saville Estates in 1922

The building is original with various add on bits through the years.

We have had a significant increase in membership over last five years to well over 500. This successful period has enabled significant improvements to be made and the club is now free of any ties.

The concert room was recently refurbished, new seating put in lounge and snooker room is ever popular.

We have two SKY receiving televisions.

Jukebox music available to each room.

Gerry looks after the bar and beers start at £2 a pint, with hand pulled option and Carling larger at £2.80.

The club premises host a number of activities.


Two darts and domino teams compete in the Denby Dale League.

Table tennis team take over the concert room.


Club opens 1.00 pm ready for afternoon sequence dances. The Dance group are also in residence first Sunday evening each month.

The last Friday in every month (except December) we have Nobbies soul night disco / northern rock. The December one this year is on 22 December.

The concert room is available for hire from 4.00 pm onwards all other Friday evenings.


Live entertainment every Saturday night along with bingo, raffle and member`s number draw


The concert room is always in demand for parties and can be booked from noon onwards.

Every year we nominate a charity of the year to focus our fundraising efforts on.
